We offer three racing divisions here in our local race: Stock, Super Stock and Masters.

Stock Division: The Stock division is for racers age 9-13 years old on June 13th. Stock drivers must not turn 14 before August 1st. The stock car is designed for smaller or beginnig racers with a lean-forward design and boxey shape. Because painting is not permitted on the Stock car shell, drivers have their choice of purchasing a colored shell and decorating with vynyl cutouts and lettering. The maximum race weight of the car with the driver is 200 pounds, with the max weight of the driver approx. 115 pounds.

Super Stock Division: The Super Stock division is the next higher class, designed for racers age 10-17 years old on June 13th, but who are not 18 years before August 1st. The Super Stock is also a lean-forward design, but is a larger, more rounded car that will accept a larger driver. The car may be painted on the outside of the body and wooden air foils only. The maximum race weight of the car and driver is 230 pounds, with the max weight of the driver approx. 150 pounds.

Masters Division: The Masters division is for more experienced drivers; racers must be between 10-17 years old on June 13th and not turn 18 before August 1st. The Masters car is a lay down design, where the driver’s helmet becomes part of the car. The car body is made of fiberglass and can be painted on the outside only. The maximum race weight of the car and driver is 255 pounds, with the max weight of the driver approx. 160 pounds.

These racing classes make use of kits available from the All-American. Z-Glas wheels are purchased separately for all cars.
 

Finding and building cars

We try to help match cars to kids looking to race. If you know of anyone who has an extra car that will not be racing it this year, or if you need a car, please call Alvin Staples, Race Director, at 786-5930.

PURCHASING A NEW CAR KIT: New car kits are purchased directly from the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio. Stock Kits are $415 (white) and $430 (colored). Super Stock kits are $440. Masters kits are $585. These prices do NOT include shipping. Z-glass wheels are an additional $100 plus shipping. Visit www.aasbd.com for ordering and parts information.  These kits will be shipped directly to your home or the address of your choice. The shipping box is approximately the size of the car’s shell. You will need a small pick up truck or a minivan to transport the kit and/or the finished car. We will assign your car a racing number once you’ve registered for the race.
