Clinic and Inspection Information
and Dates
CAR CLINICS
Clinics are usually held at the Elks Lodge in March, April & May from 1:00pm -4:00pm and are free to attend. Bring your questions. Come with or without your car, but you’ll get the most out of the clinic by bringing your car. Our race inspectors will be on hand to answer questions and to make sure your car is regulation. Attend a car clinic and pick your inspection/impound appointment. Those drivers who attend the March or April car clinic are invited to select their Inspection date and time on a first-come, first-served basis. All drivers who do not attend a clinic will be assigned a time slot for their Inspection. All drivers will be notified of their time slot
in May.

INSPECTIONS
All cars are inspected to ensure they comply with the All-American Soap Box Derby and Rappahannock Regional Soap Box Derby Rules and Regulations. Your derby car will face final inspection a few weeks before race day. Once it passes final inspection, it is securely impounded until race day. Please bring your helmet with you to inspection. It will be impounded with your car.
We are here to answer your questions.

What happens at Inspection & Impound:
- Each driver will receive their official
racer’s t-shirt
- Photo taken by the Free Lance-Star of
the driver in their car for publishing in race day program
- Racers remove the shell from their car
and have it inspected
- Once the car has passed inspection, the
racers replace the shell and Derby Staff will impound it until race day.
(We recommend that racers bring their car to inspection with the shell
secured by just 4 screws (so the photo can be taken with the car
in tact), remove the screws for inspection, then put the shell on with
ALL of its screws before impound.)
The three winning cars of our local race
will be inspected again after the race to ensure they are in compliance
to go to Akron’s National Race. Please be sure to attend the Car
Clinics to prepare your derby racer for these important inspections.
We want every car to successfully pass inspection and race on derby day.
